News

Friday 28th - Saturday 29th March 2025: Steve had a great time, met some veryf fine people and sold quite a few copies of The Price of Dormice at The Mammal Society’s 70th Annual Conference, Bangor, Wales. Fantastic to be among such a nice bunch of sympathetic. empathetic, like-minded animal-lovers. A huge thank you to the organisers, to the lovely friendly stall-holders in the exhibition, and to the conference delegates. Everyone really seemed to get what I’m trying to do!

Tuesday 4th March 2025, 2-3pm: Steve talked to some lovely people about The Price of Dormice, the OxCam Growth Arc and all that good stuff, at Thame Library. A good session! The first time I’ve had to offer a money-back guarantee that the end of the book would be up-lifting rather than deeply miserable. Which I did with complete confidence.

Thursday 27th February 2025, 6.30 and 8pm: Steve interviewed Imogen Rigden about her art practice and her exhibition Impermanence, at The North Wall, Summertown. It seemed to go down well, and was great fun!

Monday 24th February 2025, 6-7pm: Steve talked with a lovely group of people about his writing journey, short stories, and debut novel The Price of Dormice, at Wantage Library. Unfortunately the curse of time-limited parking near the library struck with Cinders-like precision in the midst of an engaging Q&A, but at 7pm rather than midnight, when almost everyone realised they had to get to their car doiuble quick. My apologies for not managing the time better, and my thanks for a lively and interesting evening.

Tuesday 28th January 2025, 6-7pm: Steve talked about The Price of Dormice and We’re Not Getting Divorced and other stories, and had a rant or two about poor grammar and desperate growth arcs, at Carterton Library. He hopes everyone there enjoyed it as much as he did!

Wednesday 8th January 2025: Steve is interviewed by Tom O’Hare of Radio Cherwell, Oxfordshire’s hospital radio station, in his ‘That’s What I Call Music’ show, 7-8pm. Must have been the most embarrassed and inarticulate interviewee he’d ever had. But never mind…

Saturday 23rd November 2024, 10am-3pm, Steve and friends from the Oxford Independent Authors collective were at the Faringdon Book Fair, despite apocalyptic weather forecasts. Apocalypse was postponed, fortunately, and we spent a lovely day chatting to lovely people, meeting old friends and making new ones. One of the former, Adam Twine, has been an angel in my life, and fulfilled his destiny today by delivering delicious organic chocolate for the team. One of the latter was a young man of whom I’ve never seen the like - Joe Rajapashka - sciencewithjoe . Look out for Joe. He’s already doing great things, aged 11. He’s got a good 70+ years to do more, god willing, and I believe he will.
